Response to Olivia Easly

Today, Olivia talked about her experiences graduating from Appalachian State with a PR degree. She talked about her job as a marketing specialist for an air purifying company and how important internet communication is to her job. She explained how without the tools the internet provides, she would not be able to collaborate with her boss who lives in Seattle. Before internet communication it was tough to work from home, communicate with co workers who live in different places, and reach an audience from your desk.

The main tool Olivia said she utilizes during business meetings is Skype. She told us that everyone in her industry uses Skype because of how accessible and easy it is to use. Another aspect of her job she talked about was the value of struggle and that it takes time to become a professional. You don't graduate from college and immediately become skilled in your degree. It is a process that involves failing here and there, it is not about how you handle a win, it is about how you handle a loss.

The last aspect of her life she talked about was how important internships are during college. She told us that her internship really helped her gain real world experience that prepared her for her career.
